Association Formation

On 31 May 2005 it was agreed by all Brokers present at a meeting in Sydney that an industry association be formed to enable the Broker and Law Stationers to request a seat on the Electronic Conveyancing (EC) Project ‘National Steering Committee’ which had been proposed by the NSW LPI.

A committee was formed to look into this. This committee then announced at the NSW LPI Broker Meeting of Tuesday 6 September 2005, that the “Information Brokers & Law Stationers Association Inc” had been formed and duly incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act (of NSW), 1984.

The initial committee of five was expanded to seven to comply with the above Act and other leading brokers and law stationers were invited to join. The EC National Steering Committee was formed in August 2005  and the asscociation was granted a seat on the committee.

Although the EC Project has been the prime motivator to setting up this association, the committee is determined to represent the industry on any other issues which concern the membership.
